Future Plans
- New Course: “Ethical Thinking,” is a new philosophy course offered for the first time this spring.
- New Course: “Engaged Citizenship,” is a new interdisciplinary course offered for the first time last year.
- New Course: “Ethics: Service and Reflection,” is a new ethics course offered for the first time next fall.
- The theme for the 2008-2009 academic year is “sustainability” and the common reading is Barbara Kingsolver’s Prodigal Summer.
- Development of an Ethics Bowl team for conversation and competition around current ethical issues.
- New course offering: "Medical Maladies and Ethical Challenges in House," is a new seminar class that uses the award-winning television program House to explore ethical and practical issues in medicine
- New course offering: "Issues in Neuroethics," is a new biomedical humanities interdisciplinary ethics course that will be offered in the spring three-week session.
- Continue the yearly ethics themes, presenting a summer workshop for faculty on the choice and integrating the theme into the college curricular and co-curricular program.
- Develop more possibilities for practical ethics, including service learning and internships.
- Seek additional ways to connect ethics with residence programming, to Student Life leadership programming and to other co-curricular areas.
