Religious Organizations
Disciple Student Fellowship
A Christian student-run group affiliated with the Disciples of Christ
church, but open to students of all denominations. Recognizing the
founders of Hiram College, DSF tries to bridge the gap between the college and
Hiram Christian Church by planning services, working with youth, and
encouraging inter-generational relationships. Its members seek
opportunities to support global ministries. DSF traditionally meets
Sunday nights for food, fun and fellowship.
Hillel
Hillel is a national organization with over 500 regional centers that
is designed to provide opportunities for Jewish students and students
interested in learning more about Judaism, to explore their Jewish identity
through its global network, campus Foundations and Hillel student
organizations. Hillel at Hiram is open to all Hiram students, faculty, and
staff.
Hiram Christian Outreach (HCO)
Hiram Christian Outreach (HCO) is an inter-denominational Christian
fellowship group open to all students. Meeting are held weekly and
include a time of Christian worship, Bible study, discussion, and planning
of activities that focus on sharing Christianity through service and
fellowship.
Interfaith Council
The Interfaith Council is a group of students who work with the
chaplain to organize, plan, and implement programming in the Fisher All Faith
Chapel and Meeting House. The group designs procedures for scheduling and
managing the interfaith program and works on issues of shared space. It
is broadly representative of the several traditions that share the
facility. The Council currently has no elected officers, and is convened
by the chaplain.
Islamic Society
Islamic Society of Hiram College welcomes any one interested in Islam to its ranks. The Society organizes Friday prayers, occasional visits to area mosques and open discussion forums.
Newman Club
The Hiram College Newman Club is the Catholic organization on campus. Members
attend meetings twice a month and different events are planned such as discussions,
guest speakers, masses, and other fun activities. The Newman Club is open to
people of all denominations.
