Housing Selection Process

  1. All rooms on campus will be available except those set aside as needed for medical accommodation, and incoming first year students (first year floors and clusters on floors). There will no longer be "displaced" students since all rooms will be available.
  2. Students will be grouped according to semester hours at the time of sign-ups. Any current seniors anticipating a need for housing the following year (ie, fifth year senior) must get prior approval from the Director of Residential, Citizenship and Commuter Education, as well as the Registrar.
          a. Group A: 90+ earned credit hours or more
          b. Group B: 56-89 earned credit hours
          c. Group C: 24-55 earned credit hours
          d. Group D: 0-23 earned credit hours
  3. CHECK LOTTERY GROUPINGS HERE!!!
  4. Groupings will be announced via home.hiram on February 13. Students will be encouraged to double check their grouping, and ask questions BEFORE random lottery numbers are assigned. All questions must be received in writing to Residential, Citizenship and Commuter Education by February 29, 5 pm.
  5. Within each group, students will be assigned a lottery number selected randomly. Once a lottery number is assigned, it is final for that individual.
  6. Lottery numbers will be posted on home.hiram on Wednesday, March 17 and will be verified on housing selection night. Numbers cannot be exchanged or sold.
  7. The roommate with the better room selection number can "pull in" roommate(s) with a higher room selection number.
  8. Rooms must be filled to capacity.
