Housing Selection Process

I. All rooms on campus will be available except those set aside as needed for medical accommodation, and incoming first year students (first year floors, and sections on floors).

II. Students will be grouped according to semester hours at the time of sign-ups. Any current seniors anticipating a need for housing the following year, for example, fifth year seniors, must get prior approval from Residential Education, as well as the Registrar.

  • Group A: 90+ earned credit hours or more
  • Group B: 56-89 earned credit hours
  • Group C: 24-55 earned credit hours
  • Group D: 0-23 earned credit hours

III. Groupings will be announced via home.hiram.edu on February 18th.  Students will be encouraged to double check their grouping and ask questions BEFORE random lottery numbers are assigned.  All questions must be received in writing to the Residential Education office by March 14th, 4:30 pm.

IV. Within each group, students will be assigned a randomly selected lottery number.  Once a lottery number is assigned, it is final for that individual.

V. Lottery Numbers will be posted on home.hiram.edu on, March 18th and will be verified on housing selection night. Lottery Numbers are non-transferable and may not be exchanged or sold.

VI. The roommate with the better room selection number “pulls in” roommate(s) with a higher room selection number.

VII. Rooms must be filled to capacity.
