Writing Workshops for Students & Faculty

The Writing Center sponsors workshops for faculty members teaching writing in the general education program. Numerous topics are covered, including electronic grading, the transition to college writing, techniques to deter plagiarism, revising strategies for research, and ways of teaching style and craft. The faculty are provided with a common electronic handbook (which includes handouts from a wide assortment of Colloquium and First Year Seminar instructors) and common texts (such as Keith Hjortshoj’s Transition to College Writing).

A workshop on evaluating writing (including electronic grading) has been scheduled for Thursday, January 29, 2004, from 12:15-1:30 p.m. in the Writing Center.

A workshop on research papers/investigative writing has been scheduled for Tuesday, February 10, 2004, from 12:15-1:30 p.m. in the Writing Center.
