Ethics across the College
Ethics at Hiram is not students being told what to do. It is
students supported in exploring, growing in understanding, and acting with
purpose, integrity, and responsibility.
A distinctive aspect of Hiram's academic curriculum is the
Ethics across the College program. The program integrates
the study of ethics into academic coursework in all disciplines, as well as
into many extra-curricular activities. In support of this program, a wide range
of classes, clubs, visiting speakers, and activities addresses
issues of good and bad and right and wrong in personal life, in social and
political contexts and in specific professions and employment.
Each academic year, Hiram's Ethics across the College
program explores a specific theme. These topics are explored through an annual Ethics
Teach-in, held in the fall.
