The commencement ceremonies for the class of 2015 are scheduled to take place on Saturday, May 16, 2015.  We look forward to having you join us in recognizing the students' academic accomplishments.

Hiram College's commencement is a formal ceremony celebrating the past years' accomplishments and looking forward to new ventures.  It is during this ceremony that the undergraduates and graduates will each receive a diploma folder and have their degrees officially conferred. For May graduates, the official diploma will be mailed to the graduate's mailing address as listed with the registrar's office upon final grade and degree processing within four to six weeks after commencement.

The formal commencement ceremony will be held outdoors at Charles A. Henry Field unless the advance weather forecast on the Wednesday shows a threat that causes safety or comfort concerns.  In that case, a decision will be made and communicated that the ceremony will be moved indoors to Martin Field House.  The outdoor location has unlimited capacity and is therefore not ticketed unless a guest has special needs.  The indoor location however does require ticketing since capacity is limited.  Each graduate will need to register for these contingency tickets by May 1 and pick them up during commencement week so they have tickets in case the call is made to go inside. Please refer to the registration and ticket process for more details.  There will also be a live video simulcast in Price Gym which is near Martin Field House. This provides a seating option for guests who do not have contingency tickets if the ceremony is moved inside.  

If the ceremony is outside, please come prepared with proper attire and head apparel just in case.  Please be aware that umbrellas are not be permitted due to safety concerns and to prevent obstructing anyone's view. In case of unexpected severe weather or an emergency situation, please reference the weather/emergency contingency plan found in this website.

Many other celebratory events lead up to the Commencement ceremony including:

  • Celebration of Excellence programs that recognize and award achievements during the weeks before commencement,
  • Professional & Graduate Studies Senior Dinner,
  • Traditional Graduate Senior Week Activities taking place in the days between the end of the academic year and the commencement exercises,
  • Nurses' Pinning Ceremony, Baccalaureate, and a Commencement Brunch Reception all typically occurring the Saturday morning of commencement day.  Please refer to the Commencement Day Schedule for a complete up-to-date list of the commencement day events and activities.
