Class of 2015 Commencement

2 p.m. Saturday, May 16, 2015

To be held inside:  Martin Field House

Welcome to Hiram's Commencement Website.

Commencement is a time of celebration, and we are pleased to share with you the details of this very special time in the lives of our students.

If after looking through the commencement information, you still have questions, please contact the Events Office for assistance. If we can't help you directly, we'll find someone who can.

Hiram College's commencement ceremony includes the Dean of the College reading each graduate's name as they process to the front. They will be given a diploma folder, congratulated by the College President and the Chair of the Board of Trustees.

All students with a G.P.A. of 3.5 or above after Fall Semester will be listed with Latin honors in the commencement program and the honor will be announced with their name during Commencement. Final Latin honors (Summa Cum Laude, Magna Cum Laude, and Cum Laude) will be awarded officially after final grades are recorded. If your final cumulative G.P.A. is 3.5 or above, the associated Latin honor will appear on your diploma which will be mailed to you four to six weeks after Commencement. All final Latin honors and departmental honors will be noted on your final transcript.

The commencement exercises are planned to be held outdoors at Charles A. Henry Field.  This outdoor location has unlimited capacity and therefore does not require tickets unless a guest has special seating needs.  There is a chance however that Commencement could be moved indoors to Martin Field House if the advance weather forecast is judged to create safety, comfort or other concerns. This indoor contingency location does require tickets due to limited indoor capacity.

Each graduate can register for up to four (4) contingency tickets allowing them to invite 4 guests to attend the ceremony in Martin Field House if a weather call on Wednesday, May 13 drives it indoors.  Registration also includes a 'wish list' number if more than four tickets are desired.  Once the registration closes on May 1, any extra tickets will be distributed based upon the wish list requests using a lottery system and distributing up to 2 additional tickets at a time until all extra tickets are gone.  The graduate will be notified by May 8 of any additional tickets they are getting and those will be added to their ticket packets for pick up commencement week.

Unfortunately, contingency tickets are NOT available on Commencement Day so all graduates must register by May 1.

A live video simulcast is being shown in Price Gym which is near Martin Field House. This provides a seating option for guests who do not have contingency tickets if the ceremony is moved inside due to the weather call on Wednesday.
