Administrative Assistant, Registrar’s Office

Hiram College has a part-time (25 hours/week) Administrative Assistant position available for someone who is organized, hardworking, and enjoys working in an environment requiring excellent multitasking skills. The successful candidate will be a self-starter who pursues “best practices” that enable the College to deliver exceptional service to students, is able to work in a busy setting, and deal effectively with distractions and interruptions. They must possess excellent organizational and interpersonal skills including the ability to communicate effectively with a diverse population. Strong computer skills with Microsoft Office are required, as well as familiarity with, or comfort in learning the Banner database management system, and other software applications. Excellent oral communication skills and a thorough understanding of the importance of confidentiality are essential. Responsibilities include office management, transcript processing, and registration of student coursework.

A high school diploma is required. Candidates should have two years of administrative support experience, preferably in higher education.

Assistant Athletic Trainer

Hiram College is seeking applications for an Assistant Athletic Trainer. Responsibilities include assisting the Head Athletic Trainer with prevention, evaluation, treatment and rehabilitation of athletic related injuries under the direction of the team physician for 15 intercollegiate sports. The Assistant Athletic Trainer will assist with the daily operation of the athletic training facility including supervision of medical coverage for practices and events (travel as necessary), supervision of student first responders, implementation of the emergency action plan, and the ability to communicate effectively with student athletes, coaches, team physician(s) and parents regarding the nature of injury, treatment plan and return to activity progression. This position will have additional administrative and/or teaching responsibilities in the Athletics and/or Exercise/Sport Science program.

This is an academic year (10 month/yr.) position to begin August 1, with a comprehensive benefits package.

Qualifications: Master’s degree is preferred, bachelor’s degree required. NATABOC certification, eligible for Ohio Licensure as an Athletic Trainer (Must have Ohio License prior to employment). Previous experience in a collegiate athletic training environment preferred.

Visiting Assistant Professor of Psychology

The Department of Psychology at Hiram College invites applications for a full-time visiting position in Psychology beginning August 2017. This position will be for one year with the possibility of renewal for up to three years. Responsibilities include teaching three courses per semester, two in each 12-week term and one in each 3-week term (22-24 credit hours per academic year), and supervising undergraduate student research. While specialty is open, preference will be for candidates with expertise in developmental and/or applied areas (e.g. industrial-organizational, criminal justice/forensics, media, human factors and/or sports psychology). To support the continued growth and success of our majors, candidates will be expected to contribute to teaching our research methods/statistics courses, as well as advise senior capstone students. A successful candidate will have a PhD in Psychology or related field (ABD will be considered), and excellent undergraduate student teaching and mentoring skills.

Graduate Assistant Men’s Lacrosse

Hiram College invites applications for the position of Graduate Assistant in men’s lacrosse. The successful candidate will be actively involved in the recruitment, retention, and day to day operations of the Hiram College men’s lacrosse program. Hiram College is a member of the North Coast Athletic Conference and NCAA Division Ill.

The position includes; room, board, a living stipend of $7000.00, and a tuition waiver to enroll in the Professional Graduate Studies Program at Hiram College. The anticipated start date is August 1, 2017.

Responsibilities: The intern’s duties will include but not be limited to: Assisting the head coach with all facets of training, recruiting, and retention for the Hiram College men’s lacrosse program. The Graduate Assistant will also have responsibilities within our campus Recreation Program, athletic laundry and intramural program.

Minimum Qualifications: A bachelor’s degree is required. Prior experience as a collegiate lacrosse player or having worked in college lacrosse is preferred but not necessary. Exceptional attention to detail, well-developed interpersonal skills and ability to develop and maintain positive relationships with all persons regardless of race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, religious beliefs, and physical challenges. Applicant must demonstrate the ability to work collaboratively within a team-oriented office environment and interact in a positive manner with students, faculty, staff, visitors, and the public. Admission into the School of Professional & Graduate Studies is a requirement for consideration for this position.

Nursing Faculty (2 positions) – Critical Care, Adult Care & Psychiatric/Mental Health Nursing

The Hiram College Department of Nursing invites applications for 2-3 full-time tenure-track faculty positions in a distinctive, fully accredited Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) Program. Appointment begins Fall Semester 2017. The faculty member will assume duties, responsibilities and privileges consistent with rank regarding teaching, scholarship and citizenship. Successful candidates will be responsible for implementation of an innovative nursing curriculum within the Hiram 12-3 Semester Plan, advising and instructing students to become professional nurses, and advancing the discipline of nursing. The primary teaching assignment for these positions will be in the following areas:

  • Critical Care and Adult Nursing
  • Psychiatric/Mental Health Nursing

Financial Aid Services Specialist

Hiram College invites applications for the immediate full-time position of Financial Aid Services Specialist. The successful candidate will be able to analyze applications, perform verification and need analysis, and determine financial aid awards according to federal and state regulations, institutional policies, procedures and guidelines.

This position advises prospective and current students and families on the financial aid process to include the application process, eligibility, rights and responsibilities and problem resolution. This staff member will respond to student inquires, identify problems and recommend resolution while ensuring compliance with federal, state and institutional policies and procedures.

The Financial Aid Services Specialist is responsible for managing the assigned student caseload, assisting with outreach activities, and performing a number of programmatic responsibilities that include, but are not limited to, oversight of the college’s Federal Work Study Program, processing of state grants, coordination of file management, oversight of a variety of student loan programs, and other duties as assigned.

The successful candidate will have knowledge of effective financial aid services practices in higher education, or a similar corollary skill set. The candidate must have the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment. Superior customer service skills are essential.  A background in financial aid in higher education is preferred; similar experience in financial services, customer service, or sales may be considered.  Typical work hours are from 8 a.m. – 5 p.m., however must be able to work some evenings and weekends as assigned. This is a non-exempt staff position.

Assistant Controller

The Assistant Controller supervises and provides leadership to staff members in the Controller’s Office. He/she also supports operational and reporting matters related to: finance, banking, capital accounting, fixed assets, external financial reporting and internal financial reporting.  The Assistant Controller will also assist in training and identifying ongoing professional development for staff. Additionally, he/she will help educate colleagues around campus on pertinent issues related to budgeting and reporting. The Assistant Controller serves as a senior member of the Division of Finance and Administration and will interface and collaborate with the Vice President, Controller and other key members of the College Community and external organizations.

The qualified candidate must have a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting (a Master’s degree is preferred). A certification as a CPA is preferred. You will also need to have over 5 years of experience in public/private accounting and it is preferred that three (3) of those 5 years of experience to have been in a higher education and/or at a not for profit organization. Experience with the Banner system is a plus.

 Assistant Men’s & Women’s Volleyball Coach

Hiram College is seeking applications for the position of Assistant Men’s & Women’s Volleyball Coach. Hiram College is a private liberal arts institution located in northeast Ohio. The College is a member of the North Coast Athletic Conference and NCAA Division III.

The Assistant Coach position is a 10-month intern staff position, which reports to the head men’s and women’s volleyball coaches, along with the Director of Athletics. The assistant coach will be responsible for complementing both head coaches with all aspects of the men’s and women’s volleyball program to include; Organization and implementation of all practices, game day duties and coaching, hosting and recruiting prospective student-athletes, and other duties as assigned. Representing Hiram College, our athletic department and volleyball programs in accordance with department/college policies and procedures, and acting in accordance with NCAC, AMCC and all NCAA rules and regulations.

Assistant coach candidates must have excellent written and interpersonal communication skills, ability and willingness to work evenings and weekends and prior experience as a collegiate player or coach. Candidates serious about a career in coaching preferred, on campus housing will be available.

Campus Safety Officer (Part-time, 400 hours)

ell as the buildings, grounds, and equipment of Hiram College. The Campus Safety Office seeks to ensure a safe learning and working environment.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Perform thorough safety patrols of the buildings and grounds, utilizing the Watchman Tour System.

Provide safety and/or escort assistance as requested.

Lock and Unlock buildings according to daily needs.

Ensure the policies of Hiram College are followed and enforce them as necessary.

Maintain a daily activity log in addition to the Watchman Tour System. File appropriate reports.

Collaborate successfully with Village Police, Fire officials and other emergency responders.

Report maintenance issues.

Develop and maintain a positive rapport with the Hiram College community.

Assume all other reasonable professional duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Director of Campus Safety.

Essential Functions:

Must be able to use basic functions of technology, including the Watchman Tour System Report Function and the iParq ticketing system. Use of email, digital cameras, and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and Access) is required.

Must be able to lift and carry up to 25 lbs.

Access areas of campus that are not easily accessible (stairs, steep landscaping).

Must be able to communicate (written, orally, etc.) clearly, effectively, and timely with the community members, Hiram Village Police, Fire Department, and other campus constituents.

Other:

Must possess a current driving license in good standing.

Must possess a minimum of a high school diploma.

Safety Officers are unarmed.

Safety Officers must be at least 21 years old.

Safety Officers must be able to sit, stand, walk, and/or drive for extended periods of time.
