Test Registration and Preparation
Most graduate and professional schools require aptitude tests or content tests for admission similar to the ACT or SAT you took to apply to college. See your advisor and/or the Career Center staff for information on what tests may be required for your interest area and when you should take them.
The GRE General test and the GMAT for business school are only given on computers at ProMetrix test centers. The GRE Subject test which is only required for certain PhD programs is still given on paper at designated test sites. Check your program description to see if you need both the GRE General and the GRE Subject test.
Important Announcement:!! The Revised GRE General test has been cancelled. See the GRE website for the latest information!
Registration booklets are available in the Career Center for all graduate school tests, but you can also register online. Online information:
- Graduate Record Examination (GRE)
- Graduate Management Admissions Test (GMAT)
- Miller Analogies Test (MAT)
- Medical College Admissions Test (MCAT)
- Law School information for the LSAT and LSAC
To prepare for these important tests, you may want to take a review class. The Career Center sponsors a GRE preparation class every year. Locally, MCAT reviews are available at NEOUCOM, law school preparation is given at Kent State and CSU, and other universities provide GRE review seminars. Review materials are available free of charge on the test registration websites, and it is very important that you download them, review and do a practice test. Commerical companies also provide test review seminars but at a significant expense.
