Choosing Graduate Programs

The Career Center has the complete set of Peterson's Guides, the primary research source on graduate school, in our Career Library.  These books contain more information than the online version below and might also be useful.

Graduate school references

Many specialized lists of graduate programs exist as well. Check the Career Center Library for directories on graduate school in psychology and social work, genetics, public administration, and others. Your adviser may also have a list of programs related to your major.  Online, try a search engine for your area of interest or search for the main professional organization in your proposed field. Professional organizations often list graduate schools under headings such as Education or Careers. A few examples include:

You may consider an online graduate program.  Many excellent programs have been developed by reputable and accredited universities.  Be sure to check them out carefully, however, to be certain that you will get the education you want.
