Cover Letters and Emails
Cover letters and cover emails are one of the important ways employers learn WHY you are interested in a job. They also offer employers a way to evaluate your writing ability.
Here are a few hints:
- Be sure to write each one carefully for a specific position and address it by name to the hiring manager or HR manager whenever possible.
- Look at the job description and/or the employment vacancy to learn what the job requires and what abilities you should stress in your letter.
- When you are finished, have someone else read it over for clarity. The staff in the Career Center are always willing to do so.
