Hiram College

start planning now!

Hiram is excited to prepare for the next ceremony. The Class of 2017 Commencement is scheduled for Saturday, May 13, 2017 at 2 p.m. in Martin Field House in the Coleman Sports, Recreation and Fitness Center. Be sure to check back to this section of the website for all the latest information!

Commencement is a time of celebration, and we are pleased to share with you the details of this very special time in the lives of our students.

If after looking through the information, you still have questions, please contact the Special Events Office at 330.569.5900 or email events@hiram.edu for assistance. If we can’t help you directly, we’ll find someone who can.

Hiram College’s Commencement ceremony includes the Dean of the College reading each graduate’s name as they process to the front. They will be given a diploma folder and will be congratulated by the College President and the Chair of the Board of Trustees.

All students with a G.P.A. of 3.5 or above after Fall semester will be listed with Latin honors in the Commencement program and the honor will be announced with their name during Commencement. Final Latin honors (Summa Cum Laude, Magna Cum Laude, and Cum Laude) will be awarded officially after final grades are recorded. If your final cumulative G.P.A. is 3.5 or above, the associated Latin honor will appear on your diploma which will be mailed to you four to six weeks after Commencement. All final Latin honors and departmental honors will be noted on your final transcript.

The Commencement exercises are planned to be held indoors at Martin Field House and tickets are required.  Each graduate can register for up to five (5) tickets allowing them to invite five guests to attend the ceremony. Registration also includes a ‘wish list’ number if more than five tickets are desired. Once the registration closes on April 28, any extra tickets will be distributed evenly based upon the wish list requests until all tickets are gone. The graduate will be notified by May 5 of any additional tickets they are getting and those will be added to their ticket packets for pick up Commencement week.

Unfortunately, tickets are NOT available on Commencement Day so all graduates must register by April 28.

A live video simulcast is being shown in Price Gym which is near Martin Field House. This provides a seating option for guests who do not have tickets.
