Stages: Cancer and the Arts
- When:
- September 25, 2007 - 12:00 pm to 2:00 pm
Breast cancer survivor LAURIE FREY has teamed up with Playwright ERIC COBLE and lyricists to create a musical entitled Unbeatable: A Musical Journey. They will join us for a public Convocation (9/25) to discuss their bold new musical based on the true story of one woman's year-long journey with breast cancer, exploring her tales of survival, faith, fear and laughter, as well as how her journey ripples through the lives of everyone she knows and loves. We will hear about how this creative response to Laurie’s condition was inspired and collaboratively developed. The production is in the midst of production planning in New York for a Fall Off-Broadway run.
LAURIE FREY has worked in entertainment from coast to coast for the past 20 years. After receiving her Master's in Theatre Directing, Laurie chose theatre management as her professional career path. ERIC COBLE is a member of the Cleveland Play House Playwrights Unit, where he writes for several nationally broadcast radio programs and has three screenplays in the labyrinth of Hollywood.
