Kristin Tassey joined the Hiram Athletic Department as head coach of the softball program in the summer of 2006 and will begin her fifth season in 2011. After four seasons, she has a record of 87-67 overall.
In her first season as head coach, Tassey led her team to a 22-14 overall record improving the program from a 10-27-1 performance in the spring of 2006. Her team’s 22 wins were a school record at the time and marked the program's first winning season since 1989. The Terriers also made their first-ever appearance in the North Coast Athletic Conference Tournament. Following the season, Tassey became the first softball coach at Hiram to earn the NCAC “Coach-of-the-Year” Award. In 2009, Hiram broke its previous season win record with 27 victories, including winning the program's first ever NCAC Tournament Championship and a first-ever appearance in the NCAA Division III National Tournament.
Tassey came to Hiram from Elms College in Chicopee, Massachusetts, where she served as assistant softball coach and admissions counselor. A 2003 graduate of Elms College with a Bachelor of Arts degree in communications, Kristin earned her Master of Science at Smith (Mass.) College in 2005 in exercise and sport studies. She also has been assistant field hockey coach at Smith, and head softball coach at Longmeadow High School in Longmeadow, Mass.
As a collegiate softball player at Elms, Tassey led her team to two conference championships and an appearance in the NCAA Division III tournament. She is a two-time all-North Atlantic Conference catcher and twice was named to the conference all-tournament team.
Tassey was a four-year starting catcher that ended her career amongst the school's top-five all-time in games played, stolen bases and runs scored. She also had a lifetime batting average of .295 at the plate.

Kaylie Titus will be in her first season as an assistant softball coach at Hiram in 2012.
Titus is a 2011 graduate of Ohio Wesleyan University with a degree in physical education and a minor in education. She was a two-sport athlete for the Battling Bishops playing four years of softball and three years of basketball. She went on to earn three varsity letters in softball and two in basketball after missing an entire season in both sports due to injury.
As a softball player, Titus was a two-time All-North Coast Athletic Conference award winner, including first-team accolades as a senior. She was tabbed as a second-team pick in 2010. As a senior, Titus led her team and the NCAC in RBI with 44, in addition to a team-high 12 doubles. She was also named to the conference all-tournament team.
For her career, Titus played in 112 games and had a .332 batting average (108-of-325) with 86 RBI, 49 runs scored, two homeruns and two triples in three seasons. She ranks third all-time in OWU history in RBI (86), seventh in batting average (.332) and ninth in total bases (140). She also ranks in a tie for seventh all-time in doubles (22) and tied for ninth in program history in career hits (108).
In addition to being an assistant coach with the Hiram softball program, Titus will also help coach the women's soccer team as an assistant.
Titus currently resides in Hiram.
Assistant Coach Justin Berthiaume
Justin Berthiaume is in his fourth season with the Hiram Softball program in 2011.
He works primarily with the outfielders and also is an on-field coach. Justin graduated with a bachelor's degree in business management with a minor in coaching from Elms College in Chicopee, Mass., and was a four-year basketball player while at Elms.
Justin works full-time at Akron General Lifestyles.
Assistant Coach Stephanie Zunic
Stephanie Zunic will be in her first season as an assistant coach in 2011. Zunic is a 2009 graduate of Hiram and was standout softball player for the Terriers as a four-year student-athlete.
Zunic was a four-year letterwinner, National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) Louisville Slugger All-Region and three-time All-North Coast Athletic Conference shortstop. She currently holds a combined seven single-season and career program records. Zunic is the all-time single season leader in at-bats (158), hits (64) and doubles (17) and holds career marks in four categories that include at-bats (543), hits (196), runs scored (104) and doubles (55). In addition, Zunic ranks second all-time in career batting average at .361 (196-of-543), runs batted in (91) and third in homeruns (eight) in 154 career games.
