Howard Jenter enters his 17th season as Hiram College's head baseball coach in 2008. In addition to his coaching duties, Jenter also serves as the Coordinator of Facility Scheduling.

In his previous 16 seasons, Jenter has compiled a 234-336-2 overall record to rank second on the school's all-time wins list. In four of the past seven seasons, Jenter's teams have won 20 or more games. In 2000, Jenter's squad set a school record for victories in a single season with 27. Last season, the Terriers finished 6-29 overall and finished fifth in the North Coast Athletic Conference East Division at 1-14.

Jenter has coached three players- Jason Tangi, Kurt Kaufman, and Brian Frasco- who have gone on to professional careers. He has also had several players selected to the All-Region team and numerous Terriers have earned all-conference honors during his tenure.

While a student-athlete at Hiram, Jenter earned All-President's Athletic Conference honors twice in baseball and once in football. He was also named baseball's Most Valuable Player and team captain. He lettered four times in baseball and three times in football. He was also the starting free safety of Hiram's 1982 PAC Championship football team.

Jenter is a 1985 graduate of Hiram and also holds a master's degree in sports administration from Kent State University.

Jenter and his wife, Mary, reside in Champion, Ohio with children Brad and Beth.

 

Assistant Coach Nick Marsh

Nick Marsh will begin his first season as an assistant coach at Hiram College in the spring of 2009.

Marsh comes to Hiram from Wabash (Ind.) College where he served as an assistant coach last year for the Little Giants coaching the infield. He is a 2005 graduate of Urbana University where he earned his Bachelor’s degree in Political Science and Philosophy. While attending Urbana, Marsh earned four varsity letters as a member of the baseball team and also played basketball. Following his stay at Urbana, he went on to pursue his Master’s degree in American History at Youngstown State University earning a certificate in Historic Preservation.

In addition to coaching at Wabash, Marsh was the varsity pitching coach and head junior varsity coach at Liberty High School in Youngstown. He also made a stop at Struthers High School in Struthers where he served as an assistant varsity basketball coach.


Marsh currently resides in his hometown of Youngstown.
