BioBlitz: Fish and Food Webs of Silver Creek - $115
July 7 (4:00pm) – July 8 (4:00pm)
Wade through the muddy waters of Eagle Creek and its tributaries in search of fish. 11-15 year olds will slog through creeks and streams in search of fish and the things they feed upon. Nets, waders and fast fingers will be our tools as we try to map where and how these creatures live. When the sun goes down, different creatures emerge and we will explore by moonlight. Participants will camp overnight at the Field Station and supper, breakfast and lunch are provided.
BioBlitz: Vernal Pools - $115
June 9 (4:00pm) – June 10 (4:00pm)
11-15 year olds will take a deep dive into the mysterious and murky habitats of vernal pools during this 24-hour exploration. Explore these unique and important wetlands and the frogs, toads, salamanders and many invertebrates as each tries to survive being eaten and grow before the pool dries up later in the summer. Microscope work to identify small organisms will be necessary. Many amphibians are nocturnal so be prepared for nighttime adventure too! Participants will camp overnight at the Field Station and supper, breakfast and lunch are provided.
